Civil Servants Leave Period in Kabul is Extended for Another Three Weeks

Civil Servants leave period in the city and districts of Kabul have been extended for another three weeks from Saturday April 18 to May 09.

The decision was made in accordance with the Amended Annex 1 of the Procedure on Scheduling Work Hours to Prevent Outbreak of COVID-19 Disease (Coronavirus) in the Civil Service Agencies and resolution of the Cabinet of the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

In order to provide essential services, directors and director generals of the ministries and government agencies are required to attend work on daily basis. Personnel of the ministries and government agencies whose duties are considered essential to provide services are required to attend work as per their agencies instructions.

Civil servants are warned to avoid unnecessary and informal trips to the provinces, otherwise disciplinary measures will be taken against them.

The leave period for pregnant civil servants, who are employed in the Ministry of Public Health across the country, is extend for another three weeks, for safety from the Covid-19 disease. The leave period for female civil servants with children in private kindergartens, in the center and provinces, with the exception of the Ministry of Public Health’s personnel, is also extended for another three weeks.

Civil servants who are on the leave are entitled to all rights and privileges as if they were present in the office.

The leave period referred to in the Procedure shall be considered as exceptional and shall not be counted as annual leave entitlement of the civil servants.
