The recruitment process for the customs directorates of Kabul, Nimruz, Khost, Kandahar, Farah, Nengarhar, Herat, Kunduz provinces and Aqina Customs Directorate officially started today (Thursday).
The Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) has invited the civil society organizations and media to monitor the process.
Hundreds of applicants have applied for directorates of customs in various provinces which include 273 applicants for Nimruz’s Directorate of Customs, 258 applicants for Kabul’s Directorate of Customs, 142 applicants for Khost’s applicants, 159 applicants for Kandahar’s Directorate of Customs, 180 applicants for Farah’s Directorate of Customs, 196 applicants for Nengarhar’s Directorate of Customs, 240 applicants for Herat’s Directorate of Customs, 205 applicants for Aqina Customs Directorate, and 188 other applicants for Kunduz’s Directorate of Customs.
Sayed Hashmatullah Hashimi, commissioner of the IARCSC, says that it is the first time in the history of Afghanistan’s public administration that customs directorates of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) are announced through open competition
According to Mr Hashimi, merit-based, open competition, transparency and fairness of the recruitment process of these positions will be ensured by utilizing the mechanisms developed during the past three years, at the central and provincial levels.
Khalilullah Salihzadah, director general of customs at the MoF, says that announcing customs directorates through open completion aim is to ensure transparency, fight corruption and recruit skilled and committed staff who would collect country’s national revenue with complete transparency in the long run.
In the recruitment process for the customs positions of the MoF, preference is given to applicants who have higher education (postgraduate) and sufficient experience in the field of finance.
Recently, a mass recruitment exam was held for 220 entry-level positions of the MoF. In addition, close to 100 mid-management positons of the MoF have also been announced through the IARCSC’s website.
